Shouting often worked better.OK,so I'm a big kid at heart, and I bought myself a set of TA200's around 8 monthsago partly on a whim.
Since I've had them, I've found them very useful, andhave been able to justify the expense as they've got me out of some tightspots.The models I have are a deep blue colour (out of blue or yellow, thiswas the less grim colour - I'd have preferred black) and are very effective.I was expecting something close to line-of-sight, but can achieve a good mile-or-sovehicle-to-vehicle in my built-up town. I also use then when cycling with mypartner, and can get an even greater distance when out in the countryside, unhinderedby lots of concrete.Quitebattery-friendly, the manual states that around 20 hours can be expected fromthe three AA cells. The TA200 has eight channels (446MHz), with 38 'interferenceeliminators'. I've never had the need to stray from the first channel thatI entered back on day one. Otherfeatures include 'hi-lo' microphone gain, hands-free use, optional headset (Iuse the Earbud for handsfree cycling) and a backlight that stays on for 5 secondswhen a button is pressed. Animpressive handset with a nice rugged feel.Maybe not the most attractive device,but a great performer.
My only regret is that the transmit button is on thefront, and not in the more traditional left-hand-side position. They work great even though they have to reach through over 1/2 mile of some pretty dense woods. For those of you thinking you'll get 23 miles out of them, you'll be terribly disappointed. That's only under optimum conditions, like from a mountain top to a valley below with line of sight. Under average use, you'll get about 1 mile at best.

It's all about where the 2 radios are and how much stuff the signal has to go through. Other than that, these are great little two-way radios. Just wish they had come with headsets so I didn't have to buy them separately.
